Each year, the main event on the ISCB calendar is the Conference.
The conference is 5 days filled with courses, presentations, mini-symposia and discussions about everything and anything related to clinical biostatistics, together with an exciting social programme.
For specific information, please go the conference website.
The 42nd Annual Conference of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics (ISCB) will be held from 18-22 July 2021, in the form of a fully virtual conference hosted by the City of Lyon, France (www.iscb2021.info, firstname.lastname@example.org).
The ISCB was founded in 1978 to stimulate research in the design and analysis of clinical research and increase the relevance of statistics to the world of clinical medicine. Its Annual Conference is a highly appreciated academic event that attracts 700 to 1000 researchers from the 5 continents. The Annual Conference programme extends over 5 days and includes teaching sessions, invited talks by specialists in the field, oral presentations of research papers, workshops, and poster displays.
The Local Organising Committee wishes to highlight the specificities of the City of Lyon and of the Region Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes in close connection with neighbouring Switzerland (Geneva, Lausanne), with the aim of taking up the challenge of giving a sense of identity to a virtual conference. The possibility of developing exchanges between young researchers and experts made possible during face-to-face meeting will also be greatly developed. Throughout the virtual social programme, the attendees will be accompanied in a cultural and tourist programme that will allow them to meet virtually in Lyon between the scientific sessions.
We are pleased to announce 2 distinguished keynote speakers for this conference. The President’s Invited Speaker will be Per Kragh Andersen (Copenhagen University, DK) and the Scientific Programme Committee (SPC) has invited Geert Molenberghs (KU Leuven University, BE) as Keynote Speaker.
The introductory day (Sunday 18) will be dedicated to three short pre-conference courses in biostatistics:
§ Joint Models under the Bayesian approach by Dimitris Rizopoulos (Erasmus University, Rotterdam, NL),
§ Causal Mediation Analysis by Linda Valeri (Columbia University, US),
§ Flexible penalized hazard model for time-to-event data by Mathieu Fauvernier (University of Lyon, FR).
The 8 invited sessions retained for 2021, will tackle
§ Causal inference in continuous time for dense longitudinal data from wearable devices,
§ Variance modelling for multilevel data and joint models,
§ Modelling the global spread of Covid-19 and impact of interventions,
§ Challenges and opportunities for learning from long-term disease registers,
§ The best of both worlds: combining deep learning and modelling,
§ Selective inference after variable selection,
§ Personalised Medicine with Dynamic Predictions,
§ Optimal design of longitudinal cluster randomized trials.
The programme will include also contributed oral and poster sessions whilst Thursday 22 will be devoted to the Early Career Biostatisticians’ (ECB) Day and Mini-Symposia.
We believe the Conference will give an excellent opportunity to reach senior and junior statisticians, bioinformaticians, data analysts and other data professionals, and clinical and epidemiological research professionals in the public or private sectors.
We encourage you to actively participate to the 42nd ISCB conference from 18-22 July 2021, and to meet virtually in Lyon for an exciting scientific conference.
